Emotional - deeply thought-provoking - wonderful. These were just some of the comments we heard after Andrea Raynor's presentation in November that was part of the WA's Books and Bagels series. Andie, a Rye resident, mother of two, and a Methodist minister, joined us to talk about her book, The Voice That Calls Us Home. With warmth, honesty, and eloquence she described her personal journey that led her to work as chaplain in the morgue at Ground Zero, and through her battle with breast cancer. Far from being defeated by her illness (she is now cancer- free), Andie managed to infuse humor into some rather heart-wrenching moments in her life. Want to know why an elusive shoe salesperson in Phoenix became so important to her? Or what exactly a buzz party is? We strongly recommend reading her book! A big thank-you to the organizers and all that attended - it was a truly memorable morning. We look forward to the next Books and Bagels event!
The WA would also like to extend a big thank-you to Dinah Howland for hosting a terrific group of women at her home in October. Wonderful conversation, food, and drink -- along with the presence of several newcomers -- all made for a congenial Ladies' Night Out.
Thrift Shop hours -Thursdays 10 am to 1 pm - donations always welcome...
