The music program at RPC consists of three choirs; the Chancel Choir, the Children's Choir and the Youth Choir.

The Chancel Choir sings each Sunday, nine months of the year, on the great festivals of the church year, and for occasional concerts and musical services. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from October through early May; a second rehearsal is held after worship on Sunday for those who are unable to come on Thursday evenings. (It's "either/or" not "both/and.") Previous choral singing experience is not a prerequisite although a basic ability to read music (i.e. identify simple notations of pitch and rhythm) and sing "parts" is necessary. We are fortunate to have a faithful and friendly core of professional singers who are a huge help to experienced and inexperienced singers alike.
Substitutes, alternates, or "part-timers" are also welcome as individual schedules allow. If you are not able to commit for the entire season, we would be happy to welcome your participation as your schedule permits.
RPC's music program depends upon the voluntary contributions of time and talent of church members, and we are eager to welcome people who will share in this important ministry. Please consider how you might be able to share in this rewarding part of our church community. The personal satisfaction is very great, and the benefit to our congregation is inestimable. The Children's Choir is open to all 1st through 6th graders. The choir rehearses on Thursdays from 3:45-4:30 p.m. in the choir room, and sings on a regular basis in the 10:00 Sunday morning services. In addition to serving on Sundays, the Choir spearheads the annual Christmas Pageant, collaborates with the Chancel Choir, and leads the music in special holiday services. As a member of the Children's Choir, the children make new friends, develop their musical and performance skills, and serve the church community through the arts. The Youth Choir is open to all youth in grades 7 through 12. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in the choir room, and sings on a regular basis in the 10:00 Sunday morning services. In addition to serving on Sundays, the Choir participates in special holiday services, leads the carols at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, collaborates with the Chancel Choir, and spearheads a mini musical in the early spring. Members of the Youth Choir make new friends, develop their musical and performance skills, have opportunities to use their instrumental skills, and serve the church community through the arts.
