Stephen Ministry Update

Eight Members to become
Stephen Ministers!

I heard the voice of the Lord saying
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I, Send me" Isaiah 6:8

Eight more members of our congregation have heeded the call to Stephen Ministry, and they are the newest class to be trained at RPC this fall. Please keep Ed Avery, Bridget Davis, Martha Downen, Teri Greene, Charlene Laughlin, Susie Morison, Vera Siefert, and Pam Springer in your thoughts and prayers as they embark on this new and exciting chapter in their personal journey of faith. Over the course of the next four months, they will learn to give confidential, one-on-one, Christ-centered care to people in need. Since the start of this program seven years ago, many, in and outside our congregation, have experienced this kind of loving and non-judgmental support. Stephen Ministers know that while they can be care givers, only God can be the cure giver, and that knowledge allows them to focus on "just being there" for someone else.
If you think you might have the gifts for this kind of ministry, there is still time to join this class. The program will start with a retreat on Saturday, September 18 and will run through January, 2011. We are also looking for candidates to be trained as Stephen Leaders in January of 2011. The Stephen Leader team oversees the implementation of the Stephen Ministry at RPC - the recruitment, training, supervision and continuing education of the Stephen Ministers.
