Midnight Run Update
More than 30 members of IMPACT (Rye Ecumenical Youth Ministry) participated in a Midnight Run Saturday, February 9th. Ninth and tenth-graders gathered at RPC to prepare meals, while eleventh and twelfth-graders went into the city to distribute food, clothing and toiletries to New York's homeless population.
This important ministry would not have been possible without the generous donations of members of RPC who brought in donations of food, clothing and toiletries. Impact is also grateful for the assistance of Steve Joyce, Pam Miller, Tim Moynihan and Jim Pelgrift.
The Midnight Run is a consortium of more than one hundred churches, synagogues, and schools in the metropolitan area. Three or four nights a week volunteers travel into Manhattan; there they seek out the homeless poor. They deliver clothing, food, blankets, and personal care items. In the process, they try to break through the barriers of prejudice and fear that separate us into artificial categories of "homed" and "homeless".
