IMPACT's
Habitat for Humanity
Spring Break Trip to New Mexico

Seventeen high school students and adult volunteers from Impact will spend Spring Break in Los Lunas, New Mexico, working for Habitat for Humanity.  A new area of Habitat housing has been opened twenty miles south of Albuquerque in a growing residential area near the region of historic native American pueblos.  Participants will leave by plane on Saturday, April 12, and return on the Saturday before Easter.  The usual work day is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., giving participants the opportunity to raise walls and rafters for a new house as well as to wallboard and landscape those houses already erected by previous groups of college and high school students at the Los Lunas site.  Ample time is also given to enjoy the sights, scenery and recreation of the desert Southwest after a day's work.

This is the second IMPACT Habitat opportunity this year.  During winter break, an equal number traveled to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they worked on two Habitat site homes, painted the home of a senior citizen, and cleaned a portion of Juno beach in preparation for the annual turtle nesting.  The week-long trips provide the experience of group living and sharing with others, as well as a change of pace for vacation breaks.
