Parenting
Your Teenager
Are
my children headed in the right direction or headed off track?
Am I not doing enough to help them, or am I doing too much?
The
teen years are confusing, and maybe even especially so for the
parents of teens. This five-week study will be facilitated by
rookie teen parent, Reverend Dan Love, and mother of four, Susan
Skelsey. Together, we will take a look at the challenging
landscape to be navigated by teens and their parents. Utilizing
resources by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, clinical psychologists
and family therapists, we will explore issues of identity,
turmoil and faith, and how to develop skills to be more
effective in our parenting.
We
will meet on Monday evenings,
April 28 — June 2, at 7:30 p.m. in
the Library. A $15 registration fee will help defray costs, and
sign up will be at the reception desk or by contacting Reverend
Love at dlove@ryepc.com.
Psalm 23 - By
Heart!
Many of the children (and adults!) of RPC are working to
memorize Psalm 23. Completion of this important task will
be celebrated during a special communion worship service on
Sunday, June 1.
Here is the text we will be working with:
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want;
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for you are with me;
your rod and your staff-- they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my
life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
