We have begun to
make plans for the Senior High mission trip to Roatan Island, Honduras scheduled
for June 28-July 5, 2008. On Sunday, December 9, David and Mary Anne Goode,
experienced mission leaders for TEAMeffort (http://www.teameffort.org),
spoke to interested Senior High RPC members and their parents. The Goodes, who
are in their seventh year of leading groups to Honduras, shared a short video
and gave an outline of our planned week.
Those joining us
will have many opportunities for work, mission, and fun. In past years,
volunteers have stayed busy with activities like construction and repair work,
street ministry, visits to the orphanage, beach trips, and a zip-line canopy
tour! Our housing for the week will be a newly built education wing of one of
the island’s churches. Accommodations include dorm rooms for eight and daily
meals prepared by a staff of several cooks.
We have room for
35 Senior High members who will be chaperoned by five adult members of the
church. Over twenty of our youth members have already expressed an interest in
this exciting opportunity! For those of you who might be interested in joining
us, or learning more, but were unable to attend the interest meeting, please
contact Mary Partington at
partingmt@yahoo.com. She will be able to provide additional information and
an opportunity to view the video.
